Hey guys! Welcome to this week's DWTS recap. This week was Rock & Roll Hall of Fame night. This week, all couples danced to songs by an artist or group who were either inducted into this RRHOF or were slated to be. All couples also participated in team dances & for the first time ever, both co-hosts, Alfonso & Julianne, were also involved in the team dances. Flavor Flav was the guest judge.

Let's get into it.

Individual round

Dylan & Daniella
Dylan & Daniella

Dance: Jive

Song: "I'm Still Standing" by Elton John

Judges' scores: 8, 9, 10, 9 = 36/40

My scores: 9

Once again, I loved the choreo. As for the actual dance/technique, I'm very impressed. He had some nice kicks and flicks & he was light on his feet. It was a bit messy in some places but I loved it & I had fun watching it.

Alix & Val
Alix & Val

Dance: Paso Doble

Song: "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi

Judges' scores: 10, 10, 9. 10 = 39/40

My score: 10

Livin' on a Prayer is one of my favorite songs & she definitely did it justice!

DESERVED A PERFECT SCORE!

Andy & Emma
Andy & Emma

Dance: Contemporary

Song: "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys

Judges' scores: 7, 7, 9, 7 = 30/40

My score: 7

This was cute & I liked the choreo. I also feel that this was one of his better dances. Again, it just feels likes he's walking around more than dancing & some of his moves are a bit stompy to me.

Whitney & Mark
Whitney & Mark

Dance: Paso Doble

Song: "No More Tears" by Ozzy Osbourne

Judges' scores: 9, 10, 10, 10 = 39/40

My score: 9.5

This might be one of the best pasos I've ever seen. It was jam packed full of content & it had so much attack. It was so clean. Yeah, there was a little mishap at the end but it was only minor & under than that, this was flawless.

Danielle & Pasha
Danielle & Pasha

Dance: Contemporary

Song: "Dream On" by Aerosmith

Judges' scores: 9, 8, 9, 8 = 34/40

My score: 8

This was good. It was just a bit underwhelming to me & I was kind of expecting more. I feel like she didn't really move with enough intent or strength.

I'm gonna miss watching her dance every week! I love her so much!

Elaine & Alan
Elaine & Alan

Dance: Viennese Waltz

Song: "What the World Needs Now is Love" by Dionne Warwick

Judges' scores: 9, 9, 10, 9 = 37/40

My score: 9

This was so pretty & very elegant. Her frame just seemed kind of off to me in some places & I liked some of the other dances more.

Jordan & Ezra
Jordan & Ezra

Dance: Jazz

Song: "River Deep - Mountain High" by Ike & Tina Turner

Judges' scores: 10, 9, 10, 9 = 38/40

My score: 10

My girl BODIED this. This was flawless & she was very much giving Tina Turner energy.

Robert & Witney
Robert & Witney

Dance: Paso Doble

Song: "Icky Thump" by the White Stripes

Judges' scores: 9, 9, 10, 10 = 38/40

My score: 9.5

This was (obviously) amazing. His shaping was nice & it was full of attack. I also loved the choreo. He went off time a little bit with cape but it was barely noticeable & this was almost perfect.

Team dances

Team Chicago (Alfonso Ribeiro, Jordan & Ezra, Danielle & Pasha, Dylan & Daniella, Whitney & Mark)
Team Chicago (Alfonso Ribeiro, Jordan & Ezra, Danielle & Pasha, Dylan & Daniella, Whitney & Mark)

Song: "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago

Judges' scores: 10, 10, 10, 10 = 40/40

My score: 10

I loved every second of this! I loved how they included Alfonso & Julianne in the team dances this year. They were so in sync & it was so much fun to watch.

Team Kool (Julianne Hough, Robert & Witney, Elaine & Alan, Alix & Val, Andy & Emma)
Team Kool (Julianne Hough, Robert & Witney, Elaine & Alan, Alix & Val, Andy & Emma)

Song: "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang

Judges' scores: 9, 10, 10, 9 = 38/40

My score: 9

This was fun & I loved the concept. However, I feel like it wasn't as clean as team Chicago. It was just a bit messy in some places & it kind of lacked energy towards the end of it.

Now that I've covered all of the dances, here are my rankings based on personal enjoyment:

  1. Alix & Val's Paso Doble

  2. Jordan & Ezra's Jazz

  3. Team Chicago

  4. Team Kool

  5. Robert & Witney's Paso Doble

  6. Whitney & Mark's Paso Doble

  7. Dylan & Daniella's Jive

  8. Elaine & Alan's Viennese Waltz

  9. Danielle & Pasha's Contemporary

  10. Andy & Emma's Contemporary

Next week is the DWTS 20th birthday party (DWTS premiered in 2005). There will be appearances from a bunch of DWTS alumni including past champions, former pros, etc. Former host Tom Bergeron will be the guest judge & all six pros from season one will be back to perform. All couples will perform an individual dance dedicated to past Freestyles as well as a relay dance where each couple will perform against another couple to earn extra points. For the first time ever, instead of dancing with their pros for the relay round, all celebrities will dance with a former champion. Whitney & Mark has immunity for the relay round since they were at the top of the leaderboard last week so, they will not be participating in the relay round. Here are the dances for next week:

Individual round:

  1. Alix & Val - Foxtrot to "Singin' in the Rain" by Matthew Morrison, dedicated to Nev Schulman & Jenna's Freestyle (season 29).

  2. Andy & Emma - Quickstep to "Puttin' on the Ritz" by Robbie Williams, dedicated to Jordan Fisher & Lindsay's Freestyle (season 25).

  3. Elaine & Alan - Salsa to "It Takes Two" by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock, dedicated to Mario Lopez & Karina's Freestyle (season 3).

  4. Dylan & Daniella - Argentine Tango to "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers, dedicated to Milo Manheim & Witney's Freestyle (season 27).

  5. Jordan & Ezra - Cha Cha to "Get Up" by Ciara feat. Chamillionaire, dedicated to Wayne Brady & Witney's Freestyle (season 31).

  6. Robert & Witney - Foxtrot to "Footprints in the Sand" by Leona Lewis, dedicated to Bindi Irwin (Robert's sister) & Derek's Freestyle (season 21).

  7. Whitney & Mark - Argentine Tango to "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago, dedicated to Gabby Windey & Val's Freestyle (season 31).

The dances & songs have not been revealed for the relay round yet, but here are the former champions each celebrity will be dancing with:

  1. Alix & Joey Graziadei (last year's (season 33) champion)

  2. Andy & Kaitlyn Bristowe (season 29 champion)

  3. Elaine & Rashad Jennings (season 24 champion)

  4. Dylan & Rumer Willis (season 20 champion)

  5. Jordan & Apolo Anton Ohno (season 4 champion)

  6. Robert & Xochitl Gomez (season 32 champion)

I think, out of any episode this year, this week is the one I'm most excited for. 20 years is such a huge milestone for DWTS & I can't wait.

Until next time,

~Brianna.
