DWTS 33, Premiere Recap

Hey guys! Welcome to my first DWTS recap of the year. This week, was the season 33 premiere (obviously).

I've done this every year since season 28 (I think). If this is the first time any of you are reading my recaps, every week (usually Mondays or Tuesdays), I will post the links to all the dances with the songs, scores, and the scores I would give them. At the end of the blog, I will post my rankings based on personal enjoyment (not based on the scores) as well as the dances + songs for next week.

So, let's get into it.

Joey & Jenna

Dance: Cha Cha

Song: "Dancin' in the Country" by Tyler Hubbard

Scores: 7, 7, 7 = 21/30

My score: 7

WOW! What a way to kick off the season. This was jam packed full of Cha Cha content which I loved. It was just little flat footed and needs some polishing but he is 100% the best bachelor that has ever been on this show (IMO).

Brooks & Gleb

Dance: Tango

Song: "Piece of Me" by Britney Spears

Scores: 6, 6, 6 = 18/30

My score: 5.5

I'm actually very impressed, honestly. However, it was kind of messy at times and still needs a bit of work but I can see the potential in her.

Ilona & Alan

Dance: Cha Cha

Song: "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" by Shania Twain

Scores - 6, 6, 6 = 18/30

My score - 5.5

Don't get me wrong, I love her. I think she is a joy to watch, she seems so sweet, and I love her smile. However, this dance was kind of underwhelming. I can see the potential in her and I can see her doing well during the rest of the season. She just needs to loosen up a bit.

Reginald & Emma

Dance: Salsa

Song: "Motownphilly" by Boyz II Men

Scores: 6, 5, 5 = 16/30

My score: 4.5

He is so wholesome & so cute! I love him. As for the actual dance, he didn't move much but everything he did, he did pretty well. It was just a bit slow for me.

Danny & Witney

Dance: Tango

Song: "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" by Shaboozey & David Guetta

Scores: 7, 6, 7 = 20/30

My score: 6

He was actually pretty good. Obviously, he still needs some work and some parts were a bit stompy and still but I was kind of pleasantly surprised! I loved the choreo, too.

Tori & Pasha

Dance: Foxtrot

Song: "Trustfall" by Pink

Scores: 6, 6, 5 = 17/30

My score: 5

I didn't hate it. I was actually kind of surprised (in a good way). It was pretty good but it could've been a lot smoother and her footwork needs some work. I do see the potential in her, though.

Jenn & Sasha

Dance: Cha Cha

Song: "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus

Scores: 7, 6, 6 = 19/30

My score: 6.5

This was so cute and I love her already. This was a solid first dance. Some parts need a bit of polishing and it was a tad bit messy at times but I loved watching it and she has SO much potential.

Chandler & Brandon

Dance: Tango

Song: "Hot to Go!" by Chappell Roan

Scores: 8, 7, 8 = 23/30

My score: 8

I might be a little biased, but I think this was the best dance of the night. It was so sharp and clean. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the last time a disney star got the highest score of week 1 on their season won their season (Jordan Fisher on season 25). I can't wait to see her latin dances. THAT'S MY TEAM!

Dwight & Daniella

Dance: Salsa

Song: "This is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan

Scores: 8, 7, 7 = 22/30

My score: 6.5

This was so fun and of course, Dani SERVED with the choreo. He just needs a bit of polishing and I would've liked to see more hip movements but he really surprised me (in a good way) and I can't wait to see more from them.

Eric & Britt

Dance: Cha Cha

Song: "Old Time Rock and Roll" by Bob Seger

Scores: 5, 5, 5 = 15/30

My score: 4.5

I liked the choreo and I could tell he was having fun but it just wasn't that great, sorry.

Phaedra & Val

Dance: Cha Cha

Song: "I'm Every Women" by Whitney Houston

Scores: 7, 6, 6 = 19/30

My score: 6.5

This was so fun! She was one of the biggest surprises of the night for me. It was a little bit messy but she has rhythm for DAYS! I love her!

Stephen & Rylee

Dance: Jive

Song: "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen

Scores: 7, 7, 7 = 21/30

My score: 7.5

OMG!!! This was jam packed and I am obsessed with the choreo! It was just a little chaotic but I loved it and I haven't stopped watching it since the premiere! I am obsessed and they're just so precious. I love them!

PS. I think they should've gotten at least one 8.

Anna & Ezra

Dance: Cha Cha

Song: "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter

Scores: 6, 6, 6 = 18/30

My score: 6

Anna also really surprised me (again, in a good way). Her technique is solid but it was just a bit messy at times. I do see the potential in her, too. Also, I love Ezra and I'm so happy he's a pro this season.
